Lasers are more precise on text, but not as good for images. Inkjets or dye-sub are better options. Dye-sub is typically what you see in those photo printers.

The quality of the print job lies more with the printer than the text used. While a higher quality source is preferred, the output also lies on the quality settings and the unit and ink/toner/dye levels and quality as well.
