so that rules out the poss of a shorting. have you tried formatting, it may be a driver proplem, or as rimmer says a buggered mobo which is where this might be leading to im afraid,
another thing to try, if you have more than 2 ram sticks take all out and leave one, see if that helps, swap the sticks at least once to see if changes anything as it may be buggered stick. also, what does your BIOS say for ram and cpu voltages'. set them to AUTO where poss
