Because of a goof-up on my part, I had to re-install XP SP2

now the sound won't work. (and other things)

I have downloaded the drivers from Tyan, file: 5.12.01.3513Tyan which is Sound Max,(4th pix). I took a look at the specs and I saw that it was a (2nd pix) AC '97 compliant audio.

Anyway at first I installed the Sound Max program/drivers and the sound didn't work. Made sure all volumes were up high and on - nothing muted- checked in system/hardware/device to make sure that there were no yellow ?. So then I switched drivers to add the AC '97 hoping that might work. Nothing

Any ideas are most welcomed- short of buying a sound card
