I've done all that I can think of - same line as your's and I have orderd a sound card off of eBay.
The green plug from the speaker is in the green connector, the bios is on "default" for the sound but that's all that can be done. The drivers have been reinstalled three times now - and that's enough.

It's just one of those "built ins" that I really hate to have - same as video, I won't buy a MB w/built-in video.
