Thats a crap piece of advice for a problem of this nature, you should only need to do that if your computer becomes ridiculously slow, like mine has a couple of times, or if your OS just becomes unstable / BSOD's occur.

I had a similar problem back when I had the shittest phone I ever possesed, the motorola V980, I don't like motorola's at all. Basically my problem was that it was picking up my phone as a modem, and then ignoring my USB modem (I didn't have a router back then)
