Well, check my sig for the specs, and I'll get to the scores.
Samurai Pro gets 5600's default settings in 2001 (1024x768x32). The Imperial Star Destroyer gets 3400-ish. Same settings ![]() *pelvic thrust* |

I've been playing around with my new toy for a new review here shortly, but I have a score of 9332 in 3Dmark 2001.
The following hardware includes: P41.6A @ 2.24GHz, Iwill P4D (i845D) motherboard, Radeon 8500LE @ stock.

I use Riva Tuner. You can get it over at The Guru of 3D.
Just take everything slow. Some companies cards OC much better than others. My GF3 Gainward hits and easily surpasses Ti500 speeds because it has volt mods and faster memory on it than a standard GF3. I've also found that a motherboard can affect how high you can OC something. My Radeon 8500LE overclocks a little better on my Iwill XP333-R than it did on the Iwill P4D--probably due to more voltage adjustments than anything else. Extra cooling may help some, but don't expect it to do wonders. Chips will only run so fast before giving out, no matter what ya do. |

I used Rivatuner also but when I just go clock to fair I will get artifacts or my whole system crashes
That volt mod u done, is that easy ? I think my memory is 5ns ddram, thats kinda slow isnt ? Oh yea when I play UT 2003 with my card at 220/500 its crashes verry often but if I play any other game or run 3dmark it doesnt crash at all, weird aint it ?

Gainward already implemented it into their card, so I didn't have to do anything but use Riva Tuner. It depends on who made your card as to how you'd go around doing a volt mod.
It sounds as if you're pretty much at the breaking point of your grahpics card, and a volt mod will only do so much. |

i reccently bought a radeon 9700 pro to beef up my
p4 2000 mhz 256mb 133mhz RAM i have seen reviews of the card achieving over 14000 in 3d mark 2001. Using the same program i only get about 8000 on similar settings. i think it might be my ram which lets it down. what do u think? + what level of graphics r u using in the test cos that affects it loads?

Sounds like you've got a system that uses the slower PC133 SDRAM instead of PC2100 or better DDR or PC800 or better RDRAM. This can do some serious damage to the overall speed of your system. Unfortunately, the only way you can really use the other memory types is to buy a new motherboard and memory, and memory is kinda pricey at the moment.
Also, these site tend to tweak the system for maximum performance with certain BIOS settings. In some cases, the overclocking of the CPU and/or graphics card is used to achieve those awesome results. The operating system and drivers can also play a major factor here as well. Lotsa variables. |

Right now is a transition point in the PC world anyway. There's kind of a lull in the technology you can buy right now, but there is some good stuff coming up. By the time you go to upgrade, boards with Intel's Granite Bay (dual-channel DDR) will be available, and maybe even something better. With your video card being the top contender, you don't have to worry about that holding you back. You've got a lot that you can keep for the next 6 months without feeling too far behind
