I know. The max difference I've seen is 300 in 3dmark01 and absolutely nothing in 3dmark03.
Actually 3dMark03 doesn'T seem to care about what cpu you have (up to a certain extent). My score hardly moved from a 2000+ (FSB133) to a Barton (FSB200). I did see an improvement in 3dmark01 (at least 1000 points) |

Unlikely. The 8500's DirectX 8.1 would come into play and help you big time. Granted, it'd still be somewhat of a bottleneck, but nothing like you have now.
As for 3DMark 03, the way it stands now, it's not a trustworthy benchmark, and should be taken with a grain of salt. I'd put more stock in how it performs in Half-Life 2 and Doom III. |

Im not into 3d mark 2003 myself. Thats why I stuck with 2001.
Besides, the higher the score the more acurate it will, or the more accurate the comparisons of 2 or more cards will. Thats how my mathematical logic screams out anyway! |

It seems I'm stuck at 515/342. Beyond that there's too much artifacts. Actually I see minor artifacts in game 4 (3dmark01) but I can live with that.
the 9600 pro's memory is supposed to be rated at 350mhz but I just can't get there. my score varies from 13250 to 13500. I thought changing utilities would change something but no it doesn'T. Rage3d overclocks as good as radclocker. I'm satisfied with what I got anyway, and that'S the important thing. I'd like to get that 14k though

10364 @ stock with the GF4 Ti4600 I just got in from a trade today. Solanis box in sig with the Ti4600 instead of the GF3. Don't know if I can scale 3000 points to best harrack, but I'll see what happens when my Epox 8RDA comes in next week (trade also). The two things that could hold me back are: 1.)Using an Athlon 1.4GHz of the old T-bird core; and, 2.)My memory I have to pair with it right now is likely not to go very high, being PC2100. It's Samsung chips, but it's still PC2100.

Well I've just scored over 14k.
System oced to 225*10 and perfectly stable (Been running Prime95 and United Devices for 17 hours and a 2 hour loop of 3dmark01 w/ no problems). BigB: I've heard lots of good things about the 8RDA, some people only swear by them ! But why don't you use the PC2100 for your XP2000+ and your PC2700 for the TBird if you wanna' oc it ? |

Well, my Tbird is already unlocked. I tried to unlock my 2000+ since it's a palimino, but it's a pain in the ass to do. I'm planning on selling some of the stuff I've still got around on-line and see if I can gather up enough $$ or trade for some good memory. One guy over @ AMDMB is selling a ton of RAM, and it seems that most people with the 8RDA are running TwinMOS or Buffalo RAM with Winbond CH-5 chips on it. That's what I'd rather hold out for.
I'm really hoping this Epox board doesn't go dead on me like that 8K3A+ did. It croaked on me like a week after I did the review, which led to me getting that Abit NV7-133R. Good board, except the overclocking on it sucks. |

After having 3 nForce 2 boards give me trouble with memory error crap (I say this because I've tried several different sticks of the approved memory), I got a P4 board (look for a review soon) and got a P4 now to go with it.
Here's some brief specs at stock speeds: i865P board (dual channel) P4 2.4GHz (B=533MHz FSB chip) 512MB PC3200 Kingston ValueRAM PNY GF4 Ti4600 3Dmark 2001SE score: 12975. This is without any tweaks at all. No ocing, no memory settings changed in BIOS, no nothing. I used the latest Intel INF and IAA drivers and the 43.03 Dets. I'm excited to see what I can do after some overclocking...after I get my test data. |

What's the brand of the board ?
As for myself, I got 16780 with my 9800np flashed to a pro w/ the cpu at 200*11 It's not stable though as the system will reboot if I loop it 3 times. Also, I can't oc as much with the card flashed so I'm suspecting the psu to be at its limit. It's not the heat sincewhen it rebooted, the ABSII was at 48C and the die temp was 43C. I might buy some ramsinks for my vid card or I might just flash it back with the original bios as the 9800np is still a very powerfull card(15500 w/ cpu at 210*10.5). The reason I bought the 9800np is because a) I was able to sell my 9600 pro and b) it cost only $370 cad and I knew it would be flashable so I had to get it, it was just a great deal ! I also felt ripped off with my 9600 pro...I couldn'T turn on the eye candy as much as I thought I would. |

Ramsinks only help if your OC is being limited by heat. Most of the time, you'll be limited by the memory chip itself.
I've got an MSI board in the dungeon awaiting testing. Barring no more aformentioned issues like with the nForce 2, I should be done with it in short order. If you want some cheap RAMsinks, Cooler Master has some that are for the older memory packaging, which is not the BGA stuff that's on the 9800's. I got 'em locally for like $8-9 for a pack of 8 'sinks. |

Yes, I'd hope you'd notice a difference with that upgrade. I figured you'd be a bit down on power with making "only" 14k on 3dmark2k1 and comparing that P4 system with the GF4 Ti4600.

Well ive finally got rid of my sd ram and got some ddr400 to go with my P4a.
Its scoring nice. Its cheapo 512mb C3 ram from ebuyer and cracks a nice 2.9gb/s bandwidth in Sandra. Better than the 800mb/s from the pc100. Cas isnt stable past 2.5 but the other ones, RAS n all them ! go to the fastest settings. It now takes my little GeForce 4 MX420 to an amazing 7845 in 3d Mark 2001. All overclocked of course. The P4a 2ghz is at 2.5ghz and 500mhz FSB and the RAM at 416 and Cas 3. The MX420 went from 250:166 to 330:210. Ill sort a screen shot out for those who dont beleive it! It plays BF1942 with all settings on high, with no AA and 1024x768x16 at 50 fps. Im made up. The new motherboard cost £40 and the 512mb ddr400 cost £40. It truly is a new comp. Im waiting on a 'lost in the post' Chieftec Dragon, but my old case is sound still so that doesnt count! |

w00t... I think? Heh I ran 3dMark2001SE with the rig in my signature and I score a 6333 almost everytime. And that is everything stock no twaeking or anything. I can get it up to 6700 by increasing my external frequency to 153 from 133. Is that good considering what i have? Heh.
