System restore is playing nasty tricks on you. Disable system restore, uninstall the Sims altogether, run an antivirus scan, and install Sims again from scratch. Of course, it sounds like you have much more serious issues than a broken game. When you connect to any web page, your web browser application tells that website a little bit about itself. This is normal behavior. However, when you connect to our page your particular web browser is actually proudly telling us that you have spyware. That's bad news! Spyware is usually not considered as critical as virii, but it is a serious issue nonetheless. Check out this thread for a recommended course of action. Also, you might get a second opinion on your antivirus results, as Norton isn't very good at actually catching & preventing the spread of virii.
