John Carmack predicted this from the moment he heard MS was going with a 3-PPC console rather than a single fast x86-64. He said they'd have performance problems, and it'd be difficult to get multi-threaded games which are optimized for 3 PPCs to run stable due to the uneven amount of CPUs (no cross-thread checking possible). I figure by the time they get the hang of programming for the XB360, PS3 will be out with its cell processor (much easier to write for)... not to mention how far PC gaming will have come by then.
Bottom line? I'll own an XBox 360 when somebody
gives me one, including all the games, for free. Not before then.
