Hardware Forums - View Single Post - New M/B & CPU won't work, please help :-(

Hi there, I'm hoping someone can help me with this as it's causing me major stress!!

I've just bought an Asus motherboard and Intel P4 CPU but for some reason they won't boot (ie they won't even fire the monitor up). I've got a funny feeling that they're not compatible but I could do with someone telling me for sure. The CPU code is SL7NA and has a Prescott core. The Motherboard code is P4S533-MX. I know this has a North/South bridge chipset, is this the reason that they aren't working or am I barking up the wrong tree? I've checked all of the obvious stuff like jumper settings and that everything is plugged in correctly but frankly, I'm at a loss.
