Hi
I have a small problem with my mouse that is not serious - just annoying me! When I click to log on to my forum it shows a different name to my present user name and I just can't find out how to remove it. I have tried 'delete' and tried highlighting and 'cut' I have tried just altering the word but it just does the same next time I log in - very frustrating. Anybody able to help please? |

What browser are you using? you need to clear your history in that browser.
do you have any cleaning software? you need some optimizing software. check out tuneup 2007 or Ace utilities ...If you use firefox, click on tools. the clear private data.. |

Still having problems as the IT man restored some of my files and I still have Trojans - grrrrr!
I trusted him to only replace files that he had checked as ok! That brings me back to your question Donkey - "which firewall" so I checked and can find no trace of 'firewall' on my computer. Now I am very concerned as no wonder I have Trojans , viruses etc. I do however have AVG, XsoftSpySE and CCleaner - is there anything else I should have? And how do I install a firewall - or at least check that I have one? I would appreciate any advice.. Last edited by rebekka; 17-01-2008 at 12:03 PM. |

when i used XP, Sygate was the best free firewall & i also used Zonealarm from Zonelabs which was also free, but, i found it a little complicated to configure
Off Topic: BTW: i've also heard good things about Comodo but i can't comment cos i've never used it, therefore i recommend you read online reviews of firewalls & make your own decision as to which firewall is bestmaybe i should try again, but, i promised myself i'd never even think about installing XP again, BTW: it's your fault i thought about installing XP NEVER use the net from Windoze without a bl**dy good firewall

I can vouch for comodo, been using it on my main rig for about 2 months now without a hiccup, perhaps not as simple as kerio when i comes to home-networks but still does the job.

"NEVER use the net from Windoze without a bl**dy good firewall"
Would you believe I finally found my windows firewall - and it was DISABLED!! I could not believe a professional IT person would set up a computer and leave the firewall turned OFF! No wonder I have been having so many Viruses and Trojans. I do not think I will be using him any more. ZoneAlarm now installed and seems to be doing a very good job and keeping all the nasties at bay. Are Trojans and Viruses still in my computer - do I have to get rid of them somehow or will ZoneAlarm be doing that? One again lots good advice thankyou peeps. |

if i remember correctly zonealarm just stop any new naughty little things from coming in, to remove any that are already in you need to do a weekly scan of your HDD with both Ad-aware & Spybot S & D the reason you do weekly scans is to make sure nothing has got through zonealarm BTW: always make sure you update the definitions of both adware & sypbot before you do each weekly scan & obviosly AV scans weekly but only after a definitions update Quote:
Edit: unless Windoze machines are protected because they are behind a Linux firewall
