Default actual speed of 800MHz and 1033 MHz DDRs

I am getting myself a new computer and I am curious about this thing for ages:
Let's say I have an (Intel) processor and the motherboard working at 1066 MHz. Is in case i have pair of 800 MHz DDR2s speed of system affected at all, because the clocks are not synchronized, or are those values negligible due to RAMs latency? A little explanation (or links) would be much appreciated.

thanks

My Computer

You want have any problems using 800 speed memory. I have a Q9450 quad at 1333 MHz and I'm running 1066 speed memory . I use to run 800 but due to overclocking I needed a higher ceiling for my cpu and memory to be able to run at a 1:1 ratio.. I would try to find the lowest latency I could which will yield better performance. My ram is 5-5-5-18 and I'm running it at an command rate of 2.
