Default Advice

I believe someone I know is hacking into my pc. How can I find out? could a local computer company be able to check my pc for me? any advice would be gratefully received

Are you running an Anti virus and firewall ? how do you connect to the web ? DSL or dialup?
One way to stop all intruders is with a router....

yes I have antivirus and firewall on. i dial up. just seems like my ex seems to know what Im doing on my pc?

What make you think you are being hacked ?Is your Ex an Computer tech? The only way is by using a keylogger.... But He would have to know what he is doing.. Another way would be Wireless hack.. But since you are on dial up.. i don't think you can be hacked..

ok, hopefully its ok, then. he told me had a 'mate' who did that kind of thing. i ran spybot and nothing came up, so hopefully ok. thanks for the helpl

If you get a screenshot of the process list, then I can look through and see if there is anything suspicious. To get the process list, press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and click the processes tab at the top.

You can find out what each process does by typing it's name into Google.

wait, do you have dial-up or broadband? Also, do you connect to the modem wirelessly? Any wireless connections in your house at all?

And also spybot wouldn't really protect against hacking, or not necessarily, it's mostly for adware.
