I love pool! Next to chess it's my favorite game...but I've never played the arcade game...tried it once...couldn't figure out how to shoot...cause it was slower than a snail on ice on my computer...anybody here play chess?
:p

pssssstt( whisper )...you guys wanna know a secret?...pingu slap...hit the penguin before it goes in the air...on the way up...throw the snowball when the penguin is sliding down the whale...about when it's head meets the back fin...you'll do better...that's what I did...tested the system twice...works fine...my high score won't last long...go for it!Don't tell anyone...hehehe! :p

Yea i play chess a lot. Well i used to but then i have a summer holiday break from all things to do with chess then study hard in september to get better. I had a rating of 1600-1700+ before the summer holidays on FIDE ratings but now my chessmaster 9000 doesn't work anymore so i can't study or practice. I used to be good in openings and middle game and studied the endgame in detail. Now i've even forgot some techniques like fianchettoed bishops and positional analysis. If only chessmaster worked.....

Wow!!! Not only am I not rated...and never studied...and don't have a chessmaster 9000...but, also...I rarely get a chance to play!!!

but...to redeem myself...I will say that the only person I've played that has beaten me in the last ten years or so ( approx. 50 or so games total ) was a regular tournament player ( and I did win one out of the five or six we played )...so...I'm not bad...good enough to beat the average player...but I'm not tournament quality ...

but I'd definitely rather play chess than arcade games!

It just depends on what type of game you find interesting. Against a computer it can be boring but against a real opponent its a heated battle. Especially against an opponent who you can't bear to by be beaten by. With a human you know they are capable of mistakes and you can sometimes force them to make mistakes. Unlike computers if you can play fast if you've memorised a set of moves, some of the weaker opponents will try to mimic your speed so they don't feel crap. Then they rush......

Personally, I prefer games that require skill...and chess requires alot of skill...unlike most arcade games which require very little skill or none at all...when I play in the arcade I try to find ways to beat the game...I don't even think of high scores when I'm playing...playing is mostly luck...beating the game involves stategy...I try different ways every time I play until I figure it out...that's how I've managed to get the high score in half the games I've played in the arcade! 18 high scores ( if you include my tie on City Jumper )...to only 17 misses ( and most of those games I gave up on because once I played them I didn't like them! ). I'm more like 18-4 on games I really tried on. To me a game isn't fun unless it makes you think!
:p

I agree, however playing a game that makes you think, whilst providing amazing 3D effects, and realism whether it be against human or CPU is substantially more fun than playing a game of chess.

Playing, whilst thinking, is great, espeically when you are up against multiple opponents, games such as CS:S / CS online and HL2 require strategic thinking. Especially CS online, or online games.

An online action game that provides a cinema of real-time eye candy that you can physically interact with, whilst playing against other Human players, provides fantastic game play.

I wouldn't know personally! Despite the amount of time I spend in the arcade here...I have never had any game player ( no sega, no xbox, no game boy, no nintendo, nothing )...in fact the last time i played any video game before coming to this site was the original atari machines from the seventies! With the exception of mrs. packman at my old laundrymat and pinball that came with this unit...so when you guys talk about games like HL2...i have no idea what the game is about! The only games i have on my comp that didn't come with it are kids games like Pajama Sam and Blue's Clues for my daughters... In fact I'm surprised i'm doing so well in the arcade...which probably explains why i post so much here LOL!
:p

Maybe when i get a better comp or more memory for this one you can suggest a site and i'll try it out!
