I think the answer the question is another question.
Would the data be actually used to help with gene manipulation/cloning. I think not.

I understand that the idea of f@h is to understand how proteins fold, and help scientists research into preventing/curing protein misfolding diseases, by either manipulating our bodily proteins or creating new proteins/nano machines.

The fact is many things can be used for malicious intent but they aren't. F@h shouldn't be treated any differently. Just my opinion.
But we'll just wait for some answers from the other forum.

This has nothing to do with gene manipulation, cloning, etc. I can't even see how anyone who understands what those words mean could say there is a connection. It's like saying that "I don't want to join the boy scouts since they are interested in gene manipulation and cloning." I'm not sure how to even begin to explain how these statements makes no sense.

It sounds to me that the person commenting does not know what they are talking about, clearly misunderstanding FAH (and likely many other things too).

Thanks for looking that up. However, if people still want to not do F@H, no problem. I see no reason to stop with just one DC project. I'm gonna keep folding myself.

Cool! I'm relieved to be able to say with a bit of confidence that F@H is as good as it seems to be. I'm putting my systems back to work folding, and I hope you all do the same.

BTW, I wasn't trying to start a revolution or anything. I just needed to question the implications of my actions before continuing. Now I'm pretty reasonably convinced that what the F@H project is hoping to acheive is not predictibly negative, so I will unreservedly support it from here on in. But I've certainly caught a lot of flak on the F@H forums for this, and I think many people are forgetting the importance of questioning things. I believe it's not wrong to question, but to ignore the answers to those questions.

Einstein said it best: "The important thing is not to stop questioning"

also,

Well, I have started up again as well. The sad thing is that poor ol' procal went out of his way to find another thing to use our computers for. :p

Well so long as everyone's doing quotes, i might as well post a few very relevant ones:

A kleptomaniac is a person who helps himself because he can't help himself. - Henry Morgan

Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity. -Albert Einstein

Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. -Benjamin Franklin

I like pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals. -Winston Churchill
