Is there a basic legaly free benchmarking app. Like is there a freeware version of any 3dMark versions. Just curious to see what i get
3DMark®06 Basic Edition. Is this legal and free? Secondly where are the best benchmark charts (i presume that there are some considering what ppl will spend to get insane scores). Thx |

Yes 3DMark®06 Basic Edition is free and legal to use.
We have a benchmarking results here in HWF like this one for 3dmark05. You can also do some googling for '3dmark06 Result'.

Depends on what your testing. 3DWangMark is fun, but it's not the most reliable benchmark. 3DMark is the biggest one, though Aquamark (based of off Aquanox) is another mildly popular one. AMD's nBench is another test, as well as VulpineGL...but those have never gotten much press, and I'm not sure if they're still updated anymore.
Of course, games like Doom 3, FEAR, and FarCry get some heavy does in benching as well. |
