Hello,
i'm thinking about buy a new motherboard and a cpu, but i don't have much money to spend, so can you give me your opinion about two things: 1- Asus K8N (Socket 754) motherboard, 2- Amd Sempron 2600+ (Socket 754) 64bits. It's a good choice/buy or not? Forgive me my bad english, and thank you for your attention. |

Can you give us an estimate of your budget so we can find the best possible hardware for it.
Also do you have any limits to your choices or will any hardware do?

IMO, it's not a great choice but it might serve your purposes. What will you be using the computer for?
Generally speaking, Semprons and Socket 754 are Budget components and Socket 754 is now out-of-date after only being out on the market two years. If that's not an indication of how unsuccesful it was, then i don't know what is

This is the tricky part (well sort of), Generally, Pentiums excel at image editing and Audio/Video encodeing (but you don't need to worry about the latter) and AMD Athlons excel at gaming. But recommending a new Athlon 64 3200+ or 3500+ is my suggestion. The new A64 socket 939's are plenty powerful enough to do what you want and will be much more future proof than Socket 754 is.
Now, i don't know much about Uero pricings but i'm guessing a Motherboard and CPU will get you pretty close to your 250 € threshold.

Yes we'd recommend an Athlon 64 3000 s939 and a socket 939 motherboard to suit. Most from Asus, MSI, Abit, Gigabyte are good so you can get an entry level model and you'll be fine.
