Default Cannot get boot disk to work

I had a brilliant idea that I would build my own PC and now I am regreting it.

I have a Xeon 3065
Supermicro X7SBA system board
4 Gb Aereon DDR2 800 memory
Samsung write master dvd/cd-r
Adaptec 4800SAS raid controller
4 Seagate 15K SAS drive
forgot the video card that i stuck in there but I am using the onboard one anyways.

I put it all together and went to boot to cd to load the os etc and there is cd activity but nothing happens and it eventually said no operating system found.

Any ideas?

My Computer

i am by no means a RAID expert, but, to use RAID you need to setup your RAID controller before you can do anything

did your RAID controller come with a boot disc or util disc or CD to access after you booted a standard boot disc ?

Edit: & configure the BIOS correctly

You have too go into the Bios and set the boot sector to boot the cd first..

Raid isnt the issue. I cant get it to load the cd I have in the drive. The boot sequece has been changed. I have also verified the cd in fact is a valid boot disk in another machine.

My Computer

maybe there is a problem with either your CD or system, personally, i'd try a different route & use SBM on a floppy (if you have 1) and load the boot CD by first booting the SBM floppy

Edit: although i've never used it myself

My Computer

Start off without the RAID controller plugged into the board and see if the CD still has trouble.

If that fails, try another optical drive in the system.
