Default Case fan molex connection

Hi I am just fitting a case fan and not sure of the connections I have no sockets on the mobo so have to use an adaptor to 4-pin ,I believe this is a molex .I have one spare connector from the psu which has several leads Red/Black amd yellow. The adaptor hs 2 leads coming out for the fan .My problem is if I connect upto the spare thes 2 leads are at the opposite end to the red and black on the spare it looks as if they would in fact be lined up with the yellow cables . Is this how it should be . Thanks for any advice

If the fan has a red wire, and one black, Then you must used the red and the black on the power supply.(molex connection)

Thanks have now sorted but have found that the red/black from the adaptor to the fan actually connect to the yellow and black pins on the molex as this is the 12V supply
