My Computer

Go to Disk Management(RightClick MyComputer > Manage > Disk Management)
Can you see your Drives here??

Under Device Manager(RightClick MyComputer > Properties > HardwareTab > DeviceManager) can you see any yellow exclamation mark?

Also Make sure that your jumpers are correct on both the CD Roms with one as a master and second as a slave selected....

My Computer

Its software (virtual) for mounting isos and stuff. Software wont change the jumpers!

To be honest last time that happened to me was when I used windows 98. I just booted off the startup floppy, then went back into windows and they were back.

Like Karanislove said, check device manager first. If there are yellow exclamation marks double click on them and somewhere will have the option to reinstall the drivers.
I reckon they wont be there though.

Okay, There is no cd and dvd drives visible in my computer, or disk manager, or device manager. I deleted upper and lower filters in the registry and nothing happened. there are no exclaimations or question marks in the device manager and a search doesnt bring up the two drives. I tried making a windows xp boot disk that totalled six different disks but then it promted me at the end to begin setup of windows xp and i chose no, after running the six disks. still nothing has happened. I recently changed my motherboard and It may be slightly possible that i didnt connect the drives correctly if that is the case, what procedure should i follow for correcting the hardware issue. if thats not the case, what can i do to get the drives back? is there a program that creates drives that are real not virtual. any help is appreciated, thanks!

Those 6 floppies are the same as booting off the xp cd rom.
Do they show up in BIOS? If it just says auto where the drives are press enter on them, the names should show up.
Try using the add new hardware link in control panel. It probably wont work if they aren't in device manager but still worth a try.

Did these drives work on the new motherboard before you installed the virual cd software? If they did then it will only be a software problem.
