The problem: My laptop does not reconize the drive at all
I had installed a few programs that I needed for my external HD, then deleted them (because the HD still didn't work), and immediately after deleting these programs the CD ROM drive stopped working... I have looked for a driver, but I've been told that I shouldn't need a driver on XP...any suggestions? I have also browsed the other related threads and none seem to apply, or perhaps the answer is "just replace it"? Last edited by SarahMacK; 04-04-2005 at 08:30 PM. |

This is a software problem rather than hardware, you could try reinstalling Windows or try and reinstall the driver if you have any. Or rollback to a previous driver in the device manager.
