Default Changing Graphic Cards

Right now i have a 128MB GeForce Graphics Card on my computer
i have a 256 i want to put in. its also a GeForce Graphics card.
Since the nVidia GeForce cards use the UDA (Unified Driver Architecture) can i just swap out the cards and update the driver. would that work.

if they cards are both compliant with your motherboard's AGP speeds/voltages and all that good stuff is in check, you should uninstall the video drivers before you take out the original card, shutdown and take it out. Then put the new card in it, boot up and install drivers.

The PC will boot fine, but it will look for drivers for the new device. If none are found, it'll ask for one. I don't know which GeForce you have, but if you have a 6x00 series card, you're probably better off to just hop over to nVidia's website and snag the latest drivers from there.

-(classic view) system
-hardware
-device manager
-display adapters

Yeah don't worry, there's no other way for the bios to display etc. when the pc first boots anyway, drivers or not it will have to boot. When I first built my pc it was driverless for a few hours and the performance was terrible, all my open windows smeared the screen when I moved them, things too forever to close/open etc. Installed the drivers and saw what a 6800 could really do.
