Default Comparable ATI for Nvidia

Hi all,
I've been an Nvidia fan for a while, but since I never tried ATI, I thought I'd give them a go. Right now, I have an Nvidia 8500GT which really sucks (even though it did manage to play Crysis at low res). I'm looking to upgrade to a 8800 or 9600 (nvidia). However, if I want to get an ATI, what is a card that is comparable to those and under $200? I'm looking for at least 512MB and DVI. I would like the best card possible in that price range. If anyone thinks I should stick with Nvidia, let me know because I'm on the fence right now. Thanks.

Well, on the AMD side, your pretty much only option is to go with the HD4850 option. Its in the annals of $200, and has GREAT performance. On that, you really have to pay attention to what core is used on Nvidia's cards, as they have more or less become part of their nomenclature lately. On that, an 8800 with outperform a 9600. On that, and again, it all depends on the core used, but for the most part Nvidia's 9 series cards, are re-badged 8 series cards. NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT Performance Preview

Thanks for the reply. I think I am going to go with Nvidia, and I found a nice 9800 on Newegg.
