My Computer

Thumbs down Computer is going down the tubes!

This is so broad that I couldn't really fit it in just one regualar hardware thread so I'll just vent I guess.
In the past week my beloved 'puter has gradually been decaying. First my backspace speed slows to a crawl unexpectably, then my front grill light flickers and dyes, apparently I slicked the wires when I closed the door, cheap design. My screen has been making popping and snaping noises for quite some time and then I get the bright idea to download a bunch of new fonts which more or less blew it all to hell. I figured they're font's I've done it before what does it matter. So I went on my way to download them, I had a whole bunch of windows open at once and things slowed down to a pittiful rate so I didn't notice that everything, internet related or otherwise was really sluggish. I finished downloading about 25 fonts or so, all in zip files, and went to extract them. I double click on it and nothing happens, I do it again, nothing, then I get an IE error message that says something about a crash and how I've lost all my work etc. Well that's reallly annoying, I just wait and assume it's a lot of spyware bogging me down.
After about 2 minutes the window opens after I recieve a few more of the same IE error messages. Weird, I copy the fonts ot my dektop from that folder and procede to the next, same thing, slow as heck. I say screw, check for spyware, it tells me I can't rid my sytems of the foul beasts untill I restart, I don't notice a difference anyway. So I restart...Same thing, all my icons take forever to open, I finally get all the fonts extracted by highlighting them all and extracting them with WinRar, and wait for the appropriate folders to open, which takes about 5+ minutes, even using the start menu. But I get it and do my work in PS.
So I get all that done and do some more spyware searches, and restarting to no avail. I figure I might as well just get rid of IE once and for all. So go to the windows component deletion page or whatever it's called and tryed uninstalling IE but that doesn't seem to help. I click on a few folders and get the same stupid message. So I take a screen shot and try opening up paint, well it says that it can't find the short cut so I must have screwed up MS paint somehow
Then I go to ease my pain with iTunes, well itunes says that the library can't be found as it doesn't appear to be a valid library. Great there goes my 3.5gigs of music. So I try repairing the instalation, that didn't help, I just figure and empty library is better than no iTunes so I uninstall and reinstall it. Same message. Arrrrgghhh!
I restart again and proceed to do a search for system restore as I figure it will save time, well Search refuses to open regardless of how long I give it. I blunder around in My Programs and finally get it. I set the point for yesterday before all this font maddness. That helps! Now my windows open just fine and I can't breeze around. However iTunes refused to function and just a few minutes ago I find that PhotoShop CS, denies my access! It worked a bit ago! WTF, there goes a several hundred dollar program. I created a back up of all my important files before the restore in case I ended up reinstalling Windows and I put the keygen my Dads school gave me on the disk. If that doesn't work I'm screwed.
Well if you read this much you get a big pat of approval. Of couse I now have to live with a very crippled software selection as my two most used and enjoyed programs now refuse to give me access. But I guess we all get f***ed every once and a while huh?
If you have any thoughts on the matter or if you don't want your version of PhotoShop I'll be happy to get that out of your hair

At this point I would say to hell with the usual tricks and go for a full-blown exorcism! It sounds like your computer has been possessed by some seriously evil demons. I know the number of some good priests if you need them.
