Default Core 2 (Conroe) Review bank

Intel has lifted the NDA off it's highly anticipated Core 2, aka Conroe, CPU architecture. The main question is: does it live up to the hype? From what I've read so far, yes. It looks like Intel is back in the game. Here's a list of Core 2 articles:

Although I may have bias towards AMD for the great things they've done in the past few years. Intel have really pushed the envelope further with this one.

The completely new architecture is obviously in a different league to the previous Netburst/K8 chips. Much like the change from the Athlon XP to Athlon 64, but even more acute. I'm glad that Intel have finally delivered an excellent product, this should really be pushing AMD to make a competitive chip and make it better for the consumer overall.

So bye NetBurst, bye Athlon 64. New king is here.

It's about time they ditched the Pentium 4 line, and they've make a great product, if AMD doesn't create anything to rival the Core 2 duo line I'll be going Intel on my next build.

From what I'm understanding, gaming performance can be GPU limited with Core 2 setups.

I imagine it could, especially if the games become optimized to take advantage of the second core. Which is sort of nice so you're not blowing money on a video card you don't really need.
