Hi
Installed Debian (Lenny) on my desktop and everything was hunky-dory for a while (a week or so). I had no problems with the installation and installing packages, AT's new HWF kernel and even nVidia drivers for my new card. Everything was going so well and all of a sudden today, on boot I get tonnes of error messages regarding USB 1-1 . The error messages kept rolling up but the system did not boot. This happened for both images installed on my desktop - the standard and HWF's. I reinstalled lenny and now although I get some error messages, at least the system boots. I wonder for how long..... Here are all the USB related entries in dmesg- Quote:
![]() Update - Forgot to mention that I also get a message during boot that the system is unable to set-up the clock.... never seen this one before....

Thanks AT!
How do I attach them? I tried to upload them but it did not work..... Shall I just run 'dmesg' and copy to a text file? How do I do that with 'debug'?

So, you either need to add .txt to the end of the file before uploading, or zip them up.

Sorry, I am having a blond moment... i am really sorry.....
I am loosing it badly! I have a sneaky feeling the problem is my webcam as when I disconnect it, I get no USB error messages. However, the problem with the clock persists..... The files are here now.... Thanks AT for your patience....

OK, I'll look these over for you. I've been out sick for a while, but I'm taking a look at it for you now.

Thanks AT. Sorry to hear you were unwell.
Hope you are all recovered now. This might tie in with the camera playing up lately even on Windows. As I mentioned, when I disconnect the device, all seems to be OK.... Will try again and see...

Off Topic:
Played around a bit with different distros and ended up with Mint. No problems there, even when the camera is plugged in. That is not saying that Mint has solved the issue.... Probably more like Mint might have ignored the issue. Out of sight out of mind right? But, it is quite a nice derivative and very easy to use. The only way, I reckon to make Gnome look half decent..... a bit like going for a drink with Marg's sisters.... I had a very interesting week or so, as far as Linux installations are concerned. Perhaps I should write a sticky about a noob's experiences of installing various distros. Goods and bads.... sort of a diary of a dense blonde, how-to for real dummies..... Anyways, thanks again AT. My laptop still runs Debian like it was built for it ..... never surrender!!! I should make a small sticker to go over the MS flag - "Designed for Windows XP but runs Debian even better!" hehe....
