Hey guys been away for quite a while, but am back with some new toys (now got identical 24'' tft's in dualview) & last week got the logitech z-5500's (Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Speakers 505W RMS - THX Certified - Ebuyer)
Now my on board sound is fine quality but alas it does not have optical out - i'd really like to free up the analogue channels for consoles etc and connect the pc up optically. Been looking around for a good PCI-express sound card with the optical out but have to admit that I have never throughout all my years working with computers even bought a sound card, and the reviews ive been reading sound like they were written by 12 year olds. Anyone had any good experiences with the sorta thing i'm looking for? to round up it must be PCI - express Optical out around £50 Can be a 5.1 or 7.1 doesnt really matter TIA!

Asus has or will have a PCIe x1 Xonar card out.
I beleive that Creative's X-Fi Titanium is PCIe x1 as well. Don't know if Auzentech, M-Audio or others have anything (yet). |
