My Computer

Default desktop icon text transparent?

Hi, I used to be able to have the desktop icons with the text transparent but after a nasty virus i caught it no longer works. The virus is no longer so its not relating to that. Tryed using windowsFX as well including the system performance setting but only the desktop colour apears. Last resort tryed SFC /Scannow but that hasn't seemed to help. Is there a registry or something else I'm missing?

My Computer

I think this may be due to the type of file that you have used as your desktop background,
I think that the transparent feature of windows is only compatible with certain types of file, try a differnet type of wallpaper e.g. a bitmap(.bmp)

Hope this Helps

My Computer

You need to be more specific... but this might work for you:

1) Right click my computer and click properties
2) Click on the 'Advanced Tab'
3) Under 'Performance', click 'Settings'
4) Make sure all those boxes are ticked. This will display all the colourful elements Windows offers

5) Download and install decent anti-virus! I would suggest you try out Avast Home Edition 4.6. It's completely free, all you have to do is register for a license key. www.avast.com
