yeah i think it could be bad readings, that could be the reason why its shutting down as it thinks its getting too hot, i did an update for my bios a few months back as the cpu readings were too high it was a fix for this (although they were only a few degrees out not as high as the readings you're getting)
there's no way something could be getting to that temperature and still be working right?

    I guess its just luck!
If it were 128 your computer would have smoke coming out from it!

Sounds like a mis-calibrated sensor. I'd see if this is a known problem, and if it is, there's may be a BIOS update to fix it.

Still, I really wouldn't worry too much. The temp sensors on motherboards aren't known to be accurate, and it's quite possible that given what you've tried, the sensors are permanently off.

There's also the possibility that the temp monitoring program is mis-reading something, or some glitch in Windows is causing the reporting error. Lotsa unknowns. I would check what's being reported in BIOS. If it's reading negative numbers there, that's probably a good indicator that the sensors are wack.

In any case, if you're not having stability problems, I really wouldn't worry about it too much. There are temperature probes that are quite accurate, but those might be a little pricey.

That's possible. I know some software automatically shuts a computer down (not reboots) if a temperature is detected above a certain level.

And, nope, I haven't seen all your other threads---that I can remember.
