Default dual channel?

G.SKILL 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Desktop Memory Model F2-8500CL5S-1GBPK - Retail
Item #: N82E16820231143

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Brisbane 2.2GHz Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor Model ADO42000IAA5DO - OEM
Item #: N82E16819103214

BIOSTAR A740G M2+ AM2+/AM2 AMD 740G Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail
Item #: N82E16813138112

these are upgrades I recently got. Problem is motherboard memory slots don't alternate in color, and the g-skill's heatsink case thingy is so big that they touch if I put them right next to eachother.

Anyone know if it will run dual channel if they're in different color slots or it doesn't matter?

THings have been OK so far but still a little unsure about all the cacheing that I've heard since I booted up. I disabled the pagefile and it went away. Dunno if that's good or bad.

only running windows XP SP2 and no Graphics card installed yet, just working with the onboard.

My Computer

There should be a few options for running dual-channel.
The motherboard manual should have a table on what slot configurations will enable this, so that's where I'd look.

thanks Big B, my motherboard didn't come with a manual, it actually came with a poster that had a little blurb about all the motherboard parts. I found from doing some benchmarking tests that it was running in single channel.

I wound up taking off the heat sinks from the RAM and they fit nicely next to eachother and run in dual channel
