Default Dual Core or Quad Core for gaming?

I am planning to buy a new gaming PC, and I heard dual core is better than quad core because most games don't have multi-core support..
Is this true? I plan to buy this computer in Jan, so would it be better to buy a quad core to keep up with the times?

Yes that is true but Quad core will be the future for gaming, new games that will come out will use the quad core potential but atm i don't think many games do.
