Default Fan for Slot 1 CPUs

Does anyone remember those small CPU fans that clip onto a traditional Slot 1 heatsink? I've been looking to purchase a new one but can't find any shops that sell them. I've seen a few on eBay, but they come with the heatsink as well, which I don't need.

well, the way i see it you have 2 options
Off Topic:

i can't find any either
  • buy a cheap HS/Fan and cannibalize it or just swap the HS/Fan
  • buy a standalone fan
Off Topic:

i wouldn't worry about a replacement fan being more or less powerful

The Slot 1 CPU fan I have at the moment is on it's last legs. The ball bearings make a horrible noise and the fan intermittently slows down and stops!

I am mostly bothered about quality as I need the fan for my IPCop server, which operates 24/7 and is mission critical.

You're probably right though, i'll have to buy a heatsink and fan combo, then put the fan on my existing heatsink. Fortunately they are sold new on eBay still.

Yeah, I don't think Slot 1 parts are really kept much on hand these days in shops.
