try Safemode and see if it works over there:unsure:

Press and hold f8 while your computer starts... n then select safe mode option...

safe mode does have a few restrictions, however, for testing purposes try safe mode

When Xp freezes at startup it is usually cause by driver not working right.
Your setup disk also might be corrupted.

did you press F8 straight after POST beep, if yes, what options are you presented with ?

Edit: try pressing F5 before boot[ot]F5 bypasses menu & boots safe mode[/ot]BTW: press F5 or F8 at POST and keep pressed until XP startup or menu appears

    Hi :)

I'm thinking your boot sequence may be corrupt, you could go for a fix as follows,
When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console if you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you must access from the Recovery Console, when you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER, at the command prompt, type FIXMBR this will diagnose and repair your Windows XP installation Master Boot Record, confirm the next question with "Y" and finally use "EXIT" to restore your Computer, hope this helps honey, X
