Hi, here's a simple question to you who know a little about motherboards. If you have an otherwise working mobo but the AGP slot doesnt seem to work, as it doesnt work with any card, do you think this could be fixed somehow? I was thinking that maybe some BIOS setting could have been set improperly or then some chip on the board would have burned - but that doesnt sound realistic that the mobo would still otherwise work. Or what do you say?
It could be possible that the wrong VGA location is set in the BIOS (PCI or Onboard instead of AGP). The best way is to reset the BIOS/CMOS and try again. If that doesn't work, the AGP slot might be broken.
Thank you RHochstenbach. Good point but I have checked that setting from the BIOS and actually reset the CMOS(?). Ok so it's possble that it is broken then.
In my opinion, I would say Yes. But I'd recommend to wait for replies from other members, because I might be wrong.
the AGP slot could be poorly, however, try cleaning it first BTW: do not try to blow all the dust & muck away by blowing with your mouth, first try cleaning it with some Isopropyl alcohol purchased from your local chemist / pharmacy you will probably have to sign the poisons book, just tell them why you want it
you have to be a housekeeper man eheuehuee muck away by blowing your mouth hearing from you first time that dust will f**k your lungs clearly anyone trying it, i'm suspicious of him if he or she is conscious even that dust can make lung cancer because it's not dust, it's having PbI particules on it because of the mobo and other parts inside the case so be careful and use an electric sweeper etc.
Hey good news, it started working after spraying some air to the slot, to clean it. Yeah watch out for those particles in the air, they get to your eyes. Thanks for the help.
