I have an old dell laptop with a Pentium M processor running Windows 7 home premium. I'd like to copy the HDD with Windows to another, smaller drive for backup. The problem is I don't really have a way to connect them both at the same time. I don't have a usb encloser but I do have flash drives. Is there a way that I can clone my OS to a file to store on a flash memory chip and then extract it to a blank HDD. Like a live booting OS?

Yes, you can use clone software to make exact clone of HDD contents and save it to flash drive. Somewhat different thing than live booting OS though.

    Thanks for reply,
I mean once I make the clone and go to extract it to the new hard drive. How does that work?

Using same software you made clone, you extract that clone to another HDD. Then it should work just like it worked when you made clone.
