Oh, I don't know it has been a really long time since I have diagnosed computer problems on here. Hmm, I would have to guess motherboard. Well, you generally remove all the components except the memory, mobo, and CPU and put parts in until you find the issue.

max, that isnt the problem, the thing is that he hasnt got an operating system causing the system to saty like its in dos, lol.
ok, go to ur bios and set your 1st boot device as you cd rom/rw or which ever drive u decide to put the cd in. then get your windows cd and put it in that drive and restart your computer and when it says press any key to boot from cd, press any key and windows installation will begin. Follow on screen instructions and in about 20-30minutes, youl have it up and running

Well for gaming I would stick to Windows XP. As you will have less trouble getting them to work - most games are build for windows.
Though you could try Linux, since it's free. You're sort of stuck between:
    "Should I wait for Vista"
    and
"Is it worth buying XP at this moment in time".

You can get linux for free by downloading it (if you have another PC) then burning it to a CD and installing it as you would with XP or other OS's.

Mac's are the best systems to go on. They are more stable but there is alot less solfware for them. Windows is the way to go.

Hmmm yea, mac osx tiger is, there is a version, it runs on normal computers, i tried it once, did'nt work tho :(, i have no idea why it would not work because it should of, i think it started been able to be run on normal computers when MAC started using Intel CPU's in MAC's.

Dr Dmoney, you are incorrect when you say windows is the way to go :p, Linux is, no viruses, no spyware, its hard to learn at first, i am finding it hard to learn, but once i am used to it, i wont really want to even go back to windows unless i need to play a game that windows only supports.

Well It looks that he is using it for gaming. If he chose linux he can do a dual boot. He can have windows and linux, just pick the os he want to start in. I know that windows is the least sucure but if he is using it for gaming then that is the os to go on. If he is using it for other like download, gaming, really anything he should try to get a dual boot as I sayed above.

Linux can run most games using something called cadega, dunno how to spell it right lol, games like, DOOM3, UT2K4, Quake 4 and Prey are native to linux as DOOM 3 is, and Quake 4 and PREY use modified versions of the DOOM3 Engine.

Also for apps that don't work in linux, get VM Ware Server, and have Windows XP in an emulator, much better than dual boot, it will be slower, but much better than dual boot still.
