Finding a card for £150 won't be a problem, however finding a GOOD card with 256mb will be slightly more difficult as they are quite abit expensive.
Out of curiosity why do you need 256mb in your card? P.S There's no point in specifying a different currency than your own unless you intend to buy from us, pay for shipping and vat ![]() *Update Basically the two cards you can get for £150 that are worth getting are the ATI 9800Pro or the Nvidia 6600GT Anything less than these cards and over the next few months your going to struggle running games at medium-high graphics. An ATI 9800Pro 128MB will cost you about £145 a ATI 9800Pro 256MB will cost you about £200-£250. The Nvidia 6600 Range thats available in AGP doesn't have a 256MB card.. If you want a card with 256MB the nearest one you can afford is the ATI 9600Pro 256MB or the 9600XT 256MB, and thats pretty low range.. Personally i would go for the: Nvidia 6600GT 128MB (£158) or the ATI 9800Pro 128MB (£130-£150) (go for the 6600GT if you can spend the extra as it's a newer card with newer technology) Nvidia 6600GT ATI 9800Pro

The reason he is requesting a 256MB card is because such games use up alot of video memory, as do most games now, it's due to the amount of textures being utilised at any one moment. However most newer games now rely more on CPU than anything due to the advanced calculations that need to be made for the graphics to be rendered at a good frame rate, without lack of performance.
If your friend gets a 128MB card thats fine, as long as his Page File is set to a good size and he has 512MB - 1024MB (1GB) Physical Memory in the system. If he has <512MB Physical Memory then he should really look at getting some more memory anyway. Other than that, yes the 9800 256MB is fine, however if he has 512MB - 1024MB of memory i would definately go for the 6600GT, it would have no problems with everquest2 at all at full spec.
