graphics card not working?

hey buddy,

a friend of mine just installed a used graphics card into his pc as an upgrade.. it was all working fine for about 30 mins .. then all of a sudden the screen went black but the pc was still on.

so he switched off the pc and now when he switches on the pc nothing happens. he changed the graphics card back to his old one but its still the same.

any ideas?

A few things to try:

1.)Make sure the monitor is working, and test it with another computer.
2.)Test both video cards in another known working system for awhile---a few hours should help.

If you're getting any beeps (besides a typical short and sweet one at startup), post back with them.

i think the motherboards busted.

tried a new moniter. new psu. tried the graphics card in another pc and it works fine. processor works fine.

there arent any beeps when it starts up.. just a "flicker" of the cpu fan and everything stops and goes off again.
