    Default HWF Kernel

    Hi AT

    Once more, thanks for going through the trouble of rolling the kernels for us.
    Installation went really well and as evidence I attached an image of 'uname -a' output...

    So far so good, did not have to do anything else. WIFI worked out of the box and no issues to report.

    Scratch another mark on your rig's side panel for another satisfied customer....

    Not really sure.... Maybe less strain on the poor Pentium M? Have not heard the fan for a while and the battery seems to have lasted a bit longer Perhaps it will become apparent in other tasks which I have yet to perform...

    I am running Sidux with XFCE (4.6) so it is rather responsive anyway.

    Off Topic:

    I would like to install Debian with XFCE but I am pissed off as the installer constantly fails to configure the network. With the KDE installer, even if the network configuration fails, later on when booting to the new installation, somehow, the network is up.... perhaps I should go for the net-install and once the base system is installed, start piecing together XFCE..... this is, by the way, the reason I am using Sidux.... I fancy giving it another go.... maybe tomorrow

    Well, there is an Xfce installer in the advanced menu of the Debian installer. Don't know what to tell you about the network thing, since I haven't seen it. However, I always do a netinst, since it's more efficient.

    Really? where? I cannot remember noticing an Advance option when installing. Is it at the boot screen or when the installer is already running? I was downloading the XFCE CD1 image from Debian.org....

    Is this option available when using the net-install version?

    If you grab the netinstall, you can find the Xfce option in the installation boot menu under Advanced -> Alternate Desktop (or something like that).
