Default Help with a new gaming rig - around 2.5k$

Hello!
In June , I have some exams , and after I am done with them I want to buy a brand-new rig for mostly gaming .2.5K dollars is an almost incredible ammount for me , but I want to invest in it now and use it for some time to come .I am also going to pay it in multiple payments(one per month), so I'll end up paying about twice for it , but I just can't get that much money in one single payment .Anyway, Here's what I've come up with after checking some shops in my area :
CPU:AMD FX-62 2.8 Ghz , socket AM2 OR AMD 64X2 6000+ at 3GHZ, cheaper but I'm having trouble
finding it for sale in my area ... 886.9 USD or maybe half of that for the AMD 64X2
Cooler:Gigabyte 3D Rocket II Cooler GH-PCU23-VE 42.9 USD
Mobo:Gigabyte GA-M59SLI-S5 NF590 SLI 162.8 USD
RAM: Kingmax 2048MB DDR2 667/PC2-5300 (one 2048 mb stick) 196.9 USD
HDD:Seagate 320GB Barracuda 7200.10 SATA II 16MB 98.9 USD
GPU:Gigabyte GV-NX88X768H-RH 8800GTX 663.3 USD
DVD-RW:LG GSA-H22N black 39.1 USD
PSU: Hiper Power HPU-4M730 730W 132.0 USD
Soundcard:CREATIVE Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic 109.0 EUR
Screen: SAMSUNG Syncmaster 204B-Silver 1600X1200 347.1 EUR
and Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit / 64-bit 223.6 USD(I have XP now)
I have an old floppy, 80GB HDD, and a CD-CDRW-DVD combo from another computer which I'll also use on this one to save some cash .
Also I have a Logitech x-540 5.1 speaker sys recently bought and I'll use it , and I'll but a G15 keyboard and G5 mouse from Logitech .
So,that comes to about 2600 dollars or something (didn't calculate exatcly ,since USD isn't my local currency ) . What do you think? Did I make some mistakes ? Any suggestions ?
Forget what I wrote about the FX-74 I'm sticking with this one .
Anyway,thanks!

Why not Core 2 Duo instead? I love AMD, but currently, Intel's Core 2 Duo is king of the hill here. This would require a different motherboard too, but you should still be able to use that DDR2.

Outside of that bit, things look good. You might also look at different video card brands, as many just use the nVidia reference design. A custom design and/or spiffy heatsink will usually cost more to you.
Another suggestion is to look at other brands of DDR2 like Crucial, Corsair, OCZ, Kingston, Patriot, SuperTalent, GeiL, or G.Skill. I don't know what's available to you, but just some other brands to check out.

Either way, you should be pleased with the system.

Thanks for the feedback.
I also love AMD ,I've been using them since I've had my first computer and they've been durable , strong CPUS.I've noticed on some reviews that the core2 duos can beat most AMD counterparts , but the only one I can get where I'm from is the E6700 Conroe but it's only at 2.67 GHZ while the AMD6000+ X2 is clocked at 3Ghz .Is the Conroe better than that one too ?
Also one shop had an Intel Core2 Extreme X6800 at 2.94 Ghz but that still is slower than the AMD 6000+ X2 . Is it worth it ? If so, can you suggest some LGA775 mobos? I don't have too much exp with Intel...

Yes. Conroe-based Core 2's do very well. Remember how AMD was at a clock speed disadvantage before, yet still managed to swing with or beat Intel? Well, the reverse is true here.

Some motherboard's to look for:

Asus P5B
Abit AB9 Pro
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3
Biostar TForceP965
MSI P965 Platinum
