Default How far have YOU overclocked your E6300?

So far I'm at 3.03GHz. What are you guys at? I may add a poll to this once I have a better view of what number - number view.

I dont have an E6300, but I have heard on sites that they are awsome and can overclock to near 4Ghz and outperform the top of the line C2D.

I have an E6300, and I have it at 1.87ghz.

Should I start overclocking? Anything I should do before hand?

Overclocking is purely up to you. It used to be a way to get free speed. While that's still true today, many do it just for the hell of it.

Before you do, understand that this will void your warranty, as Intel does not warranty speeds faster than the set speed.

Now that I've put that out, the Core 2's overclock very well, and from what I understand, a 50% OC is on the low-end for the E6300 and E6400. The E4300 seems to do 100% OC's very easily from early reviews.

In overclocking, your two best friends are Prime 95 (or StressPrime) for the CPU. I've also heard that Orthos is excellent since it uniformly stresses both cores---important because the Core 2 Duo's are all dual core, and both need to be stable. A pass without errors for 24 hours is considered stable. Personally, I've found that the errors tend to show up long before that time, so you may be able to get away with 12 hours. Going 24 hours won't kill you, though. Just don't run it for a few hours and call it good as errors don't show up right away.
The second piece of software to have handy is Memtest 86. This tests your RAM for errors, so run this for 3-8 hours to ensure the RAM is fine at the speed it's set. Besides being useful for overclocking, it's just plain handy to have for troubleshooting. There's images for Floppy and CD.
