I got new memory exactly like my old memory and put it into the computer now, but it still won't turn on. The hard drive, memory, and video card work in my other computers and used to work in that one. I took some memory out a bit ago, but might have somehow damaged the cpu. The monitor works, and all the lights on motherboard turns on. The fan turns on, the CD drive spins (or maybe its the hard drive), but the monitor does nothing.
Anyway, i pulled the cpu out and im wondering if it has gone bad. How can I tell? All the other computers I could have access to are AMD. Thanks. |

OK, you say that the monitor is working.
So, when you turn the computer on what do you get on the screen? Do you get any writing on the screen at all? If you do what does it say? When you say you think you damaged your CPU, why do you think you have done that? Just replacing/adding RAM does not have any effect on the CPU.

my cpu never worked with just my 512 module, although if i had another one in dimm1 it would use the 512. when i took out the 256 it stopped working., so i got a new 512 that was exactly the same except by premium not kingston. its brand new and im sure it would work in my other computer (ill try it to be certain, but it will). anyway, the monitor acts like the computer isn't even on, but the monitor and gfx card work with every other computer in my house. i suppose it could be the motherboard. the monitor light blinks orange which means the power is getting to it.
