The best theory i have seen for why we dream explains it as our brains going through lots of different possibility's and working out the best reaction so you can react faster if it does happen.

normally the dreams are related to things which could happen sometime soon or things that you are worrying about... <sarcasm> so ferg, what are you doing that could get you banned eh? </sarcasm>

personally, i don't think *nix does suck, i think i more stable & more secure and you don't have to worry about viruses or adware unless you use Wine

By all means, please do post it! (if it exists ) I would love to hear why you don't like x,y or z about Linux.

Off Topic:

I think you are overestimating how much a but of windows malware could do if it was run under wine, i doubt it would be able to affect anything other than the windows programs installed on the machine (if it could even do that)

I think you'll find the mods and admins here are pretty fair and reasonable. Hopefully you'll find that this includes me also. As long as you abide by the rules, and in so doing are a "good internet citizen", you won't have any problems here! So rest easy from now on. I may not agree with you, but that's not going to get you banned from HWF.

I used to die many, many times in my dreams. One time I died 3 times, wasn't really fun. that wasn't too bad though, the time I died badly was trying to escape death, on the run after losing everything I had including family.

I mean, how the hell do you go about escaping death itself? It's just some entity chasing you, can't really fight it.

Then the few times I get a good dream, where something I do actually works out (no, not that kind of thing but somewhat similar) I end up waking up too early to finish it. Oh no, when it's a death dream I'm bloody stuck there till my neck is snapped...

No more cheese for me either.

I once had a dream about AT and m...
Wait, I shouldn't go into that.

Hehe, in all seriousness though, some of my dreams really freak me out. I had a zombie-based dream recently that really scared me, (zombies are my biggest fear for those of you that don't know) and I spent the entire next day acting weird apparently.

Oh well.

I'm not sure what my biggest fear is. I did dream a few times if being attacked by wolfs/zombies/whatever in my house. So I'd run around everywhere locking all the windows and doors, but always worried I'd forgot one. Then when they start coming in, I run out the house and try to find a friend's house constantly running.

i thought Wine was 1 of the very few vulnerabilities of *nix, but, i did use Wine a while ago, obviously, without problems, so, maybe, Wine & Windoze & installed software are not vulnerable to malware / viruses

@Impy: is that right

I would imagine most are impotent under wine, even if they did work they couldn't do anything to the system. After all, they execute with the privileges of the user, so no system harm can be done.

Even so, it's unfair to class something like wine as a vulnerability of linux.

That's right. Even if you did manage to get some Windows malware in WINE, it wouldn't change the fact that WINE would have to be running in order for the malware to run. And WINE doesn't autostart any applications, it only runs the specific thing you're launching. So I'm not even sure malware could be successful in WINE if you ran it on purpose.
