Default Internet speed help?

Right so up until last week I had 512k broadband and on Wednesday (a day earlier than I was told i would get upgraded) i got set up for 2mb broadband by my ISP (freedom2surf.net). At first when I was downloading it was goin at 160-200kb/s but since Friday my interent connection has been fine for loading some net pages but when it comes to downloadin programs/ files the transfer rate only goes at 40kb/s right now its going at 6kb/s!

After this started to happen last night I ran a "download test" off the internet that aids in "detecting your broadband speed" it was originally saying that my actual download speed was around 40kb/s but I ran the test now and it has come up as 160kb/s: http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/sp...6ec33b7107663d but it doesn't explain why my net connection is going really slow. At first I thought it could be traffic on my ISP or even the servers that I am downloading from but it generally seems to be downloading really slow across the board.

Any Suggestions?

Cheers all

I'm also with F2S and having the same problem. Do you find that sometimes pages don't load? I think its a possible ISP issue.

yes, been having problems a while now. Some time the pages take seconds, other times they refuse to load or are load very slow.

currently considering changing ISP/s to maybe Bulldog, Zen or UK Online.

I can't see it offering 2mbps for 12.99 PX. Maybe as a phone/tv package though.

I use blueyonder and paying 17.99 for 2mbps. for £25 you get 4mbps, and for £35 they offer 10mbps.

In my experience, NTL is probably the worst choice you can go for! Some of my relatives use NTL, and they have had nothing but trouble! They regulary get cut off & they were paying double the fee for a whole year, and no one at NTL bothered to tell them. I could go on.....

Agree totally!!
We had that problem when we were with them, they just cut us off for no reason, took days to get connected again. They never gave warning, just cut us off. That was a right pain in the
They may have changed recently though, I'm still annoyed at BT as they can't give us anything more than 512kbps...
