Default Laptop Help again

When I turn the laptop on it cones to a menu: These are the options;

Safe mode
Safe mode with networking
Safe mode with command prompt

Last Known good Configuration

Start windows normally

Last know good configuration is the only one that when selected doesn't freeze the laptop. When chosen it says:

Windows Could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:

\WINDOWS\System32\Config\System

I have no Restore Cd or a windows Xp Cd. I do however have a Cd key for windows Xp on the underside of the laptop.

Any suggestions to fix this will be greatfully welcomed.

Thankyou.

Adam

My Computer

first enter the recovery console (boot from XP CD and press R when prompted) and run
Code:
CHKDSK
then i think
Code:
CHKDSK /R
i think that should get it sorted
