Well, i'll start with, i really liked Mandriva 2007, it was great, but it was a nightmare trying to get Firefox 2.0 installed, so that was kind of a killer for me, so i went from distro to distro trying to find something that was worthwhile, and i failed. So, here is a link to a review that will probably do a lot better job than i would of explaining anything
Mandriva Linux PowerPack 2008.0 review - Sofware in Review But, i will say, that Mandriva should be the choice of anyone new to Linux, and i'm not even kidding. Just for giggles i tried every "so called" newbie Linux distro and they were pretty simple, but i wouldn't say they were easy. Granted, i'm decently comfortable with Linux now, but i don't think installation could have been any simpler, all you have to do was click next, literally. (minus the part where you have to select your language) That and it just works, but, it does have a lot of crap installed, or i should say, two weird things, mostly Firefox related. Lastly, and very contrary to the article, i like the desktop search, it works REALLY well compared to anything else i have tried to use, it said in the article about loosing stuff, but thats not really the case, its more like, wait, where would Linux put what i just did?? so i find it really nice.

Probably because it wasn't v 2.0, though I'm not sure of that.

BlogRovR, and Kerry Beagle, which like some how integrates into Firefox, this box kept popping up until you ether register or check it to stop popping up. Yeah, like i said, they didn't have Firefox 2.0 in their repositories, even after it came out, it wasn't there, and i'm not even sure if they put in in the spring release, it was dumb.

No, there wasn't a repository availible to download Firefox 2.0, and there were no rpms anywhere. That, and for whatever reason Mandriva used a nonstandard file layout so if you download firefox from Mozilla website, it didn't work, so like it said, no remotely simple way of getting 2.0 at the time. On a side note, i did find out they added support when they re-released 2007, (Mandriva 2007 spring)

LOL, donkey, your obviously not reading what i'm writing, I SAID THEY ADDED SUPPORT WHEN THEN RE-RELEASED 2007!!! lol, yeah, i was just way to impatient to wait, and like i've said for like the third time now, it was REALLY hard to get firefox 2.0 before the spring release for 2007, it was messed up, but it was Mandriva's fault.

Hey Donkey, sorry if my message came of as harsh, i wasn't being serious, sarcasm and the sort is hard to convey over text.
Yeah, Mandriva was my first Linux OS ever, so that was a little past what i had figured out at that point.
