After reinstalling xp i now have a messed up keyboard. Shift '2' provides me with an '@' instead of " and the Shift ' key gives me " instead of '@'. I also can't get my pound sign. How do i rectify this?

Yeh its no probelem just set on the american settings. go to control panel and then go to regional and language settings....change the two on the regional options page to united kingdom and click on the advanced tab and change that to united kingdom too. Then you should be in english settings, not sure if you'll need to restart.
