The image of the splash screen that is displayed during the POST process, is located in the BIOS chip itself. If you want to replace the image, you should refer to the manual of the motherboard.

Do mind that if your computer was pre-built by a manufacturer (like HP or Dell), it might not be possible.

theoretically it should be possible, however, it would require updating the BIOS (a BIOS flash) & a custom .bin file (binary file suppplied by the motherboard manufacturer)

flashing the BIOS should only be done for a very good reason like making a system address (see) more RAM or to allow your system compatible with custom or obscure hardware you can't live without.

    but, a very good question

finally, every BIOS is unique to the system it is installed in. even if it was possible, i wouldn't do it, that should give you some idea what your asking

BTW: RH is correct about the location the splash screen, thats why you would have to flash the BIOS

I had a motherboard that supported updating the BIOS image with any bitmap file set to the right size and number of colours. Unfortunatley, when I tried, Windows got a BSOD (something went wrong), and the motherboard was dead! Wasn't worth getting it reparied, it was on a cheapish one.

in my old asus mobo there was a application which allowed you to change the logo

all you had to is select the picture (256 colors) and it automatically flashes the bios
