A big thank you to `Addis`. Following your very helpful instructions I managed to install my scanner but now it tells me the computer cannot find it. I have plugged the usb lead into other usb connections but still no luck. Any other suggestions !!!

Try going into device manager and see if its listed. Go to right click my computer>properties>hardware>device manager. There may be conflicts or other problems with it.
If still no luck, try going to control panel>add new hardware and scan for new hardware added but not installed.
