    Default multiple case fans

I recently acquired a 4 pack of thermaltake 80mm fans with the nifty LED things.

I wanted to put one in front of my HDD's and maybe another one up in my 5.25" bays.

Only problem I've got is that I've only got 1 connector on my motherboard for a case fan. Are there splitters or something that you can buy to hook up multiple case fans? Or am I just SOL until I get another motherboard?

Hi, you should be able to buy a wire that will convert the standard pin plug into a molex plug (the ones used by the pata hard drives). You can find them on newegg: something like this:
Newegg.com - Link Depot POW-ADT-3P4 Power 4 pin adapter to 3 pin fan adapter - Adapters & Gender Changers

That may not be the exact kind you need, but look around, I'm sure there's at least one. Good luck.

Well, at worst, you'll need to acquire some 3-pin-to-4-pin adaptors that allow you to run the fans right off the power supply. However, this assumes you don't have those already or the fans are setup with one in the first place.

Something like this would do the job. I've also see ones that are like that, but just do one fan. You may be able to find them at local shops for cheap as well.

    thanks guys. I will look.

I seen other 4 packs like the one i got that have the 4 pin molex on them. should have gotten those i guess because i have plenty of those spare connectors coming off the PSU. Now do I RMA and take the hit in shipping or just buy an adapter?

Also with the ones that plug into the 4 pin from the pSU are they on all the time unless you shut your PSU off? I don't do the reacharound thing too often with my computer.

The ones that plug into the four pin will be on any time the computer is on because they are connected to the PSU (you won't need to reach around and turn the switch off or on). As soon as you press the power button they will come on, and when you shut down they will turn off. Good luck.

    Hi,

Maybe you will also need a bigger watt power supply to run the fans simultaneously. Happened to me, power went out.
Cool rigs think better, that's what i think. lol
